Jupiter and Venus After Sunset, February 26th, 2023

February 26th, 2023, 6:15 p.m. local time

I have not have much astronomy-wise to write about for the past few months, but maybe that will change a tad as the weather warms Late Winter. Tonight, the sky was very clear. Each night when I can, I have observed Jupiter and Saturn getting closer in the West sky after Sunset. It is certainly reminiscent of the Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction of 2020.

These two planets will keep getting closer for the next few days after Sunset. I don’t know if I will be able to capture them again with such a clear sky, so here they are now. As Venus continues to ascend in the West sky, I will attempt more focused imaging of the planet, which I have not done in many years.

In the accompanying image, Jupiter is above Venus. It was taken with my iPhone 14 Pro and the NightCap app.
